“I have a background in art and design. The Mission Ready Agile UX Design accelerator helped me take the skills I had and transfer them into a new career that’s creative and challenging.” Now working as a UX/UI designer at the Auckland Council’s digital team.
I was looking for ways to get experience in the Salesforce environment or to develop my skills further to then progress along that path. When I came across Mission Ready it seemed to fit the bill, with training in the developer stream and a healthy chunk of workplace experience.
“My degree wasn’t as helpful in getting a job in the field. I heard about Mission Ready through a job interview at Datacom. I didn’t get that job, but I knew where I needed to go next.” Following this, George progressed to a full-time career opportunity as a salesforce administrator with Genetic Technologies – Pioneer Seeds.
“In high school, I thought it would be cool to learn about programming, so I took additional technology classes and built websites and a few programs in Python.” What may have seemed like a tiny spark of interest for Vishal Prakash years ago has lead him a career as a software developer.
“Straight out of school, I decided to follow the business path, which I am glad I pursued, but I didn’t see it as a long-term career. When we moved to Tauranga, I decided to change to something I have a passion for and something I could see myself doing long-term.”
The programme has been an incredible learning experience. I’ve always enjoyed working with numbers and databases, and this course helped me develop a deeper understanding of tools like Excel and MySQL. I’m now excited about the next level and continuing my journey in data analysis. The flexibility of the programme was a game-changer for me.
