In today’s challenging economic environment, the thought of pursuing a tech certification might seem like a distant dream due to the rising cost of living. However, there are options available that can make it more accessible for you to chase your dream job in the tech industry.
If you’re embarking on your tertiary education journey for the first time, you could be eligible to have your fees covered for one year of study or two years of work-based training. This opportunity comes in the form of Fees Free, a dedicated fund designed for first-time tertiary learners. Fees Free can cover fees for up to $12,000 and is applicable to a wide range of educational institutions, including Mission Ready.
To determine if you qualify for Fees Free, you must meet specific eligibility criteria, and your chosen course or programme must also meet the necessary requirements. For detailed criteria, you can refer to this link. You can easily check your eligibility status using the NSN checker on the same website.
In 2022, approximately 42,760 students* and trainees benefited from the Fees Free initiative, with 9,050 individuals commencing their fees-free studies between 2018 and 2021 and continuing into 2022.
It’s important to note that Fees Free is not exclusively for recent school leavers. Even if you haven’t recently graduated from high school but have completed less than half a year of tertiary education or training (including studies abroad), you may still qualify for this fantastic opportunity.
Fees Free covers a broad spectrum of educational paths, including industry training, apprenticeships, and a wide range of qualifications and courses offered by universities, wānanga, polytechnics, and private training establishments. So, if you’ve ever considered pursuing a career in the tech industry, this might be your chance to make that dream a reality.
